Juan Ignacio Marco Requena is a Viola player and Pianist from Spain. He attended Chetham’s School of Music for three years where he studied with Graham Oppenheimer (Viola) and Jonathan Middleton (Piano) before gaining a place at the Royal College of Music where he continued his viola studies with Jonathan Barritt and piano with Kathron Sturrock.

Juan Ignacio has been awarded prizes such as the Chetham’s Senior Orchestral Player of the Year and the Herefordshire Musician of the Year as well as being finalist at the Villena’s International Junior String Competition.

Juan Ignacio has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as Villena’s Symphony Orchestra, Caudete’s Chamber Orchestra and Chetham’s Baroque Orchestra amongst others. Furthermore, he has had the pleasure of receiving masterclasses from leading soloists in the world such as Isabel Villanueva, Jennifer Stumm, Maxim Rysanov and Tatjiana Masurenko amongst others.

Juan Ignacio has been part of the orchestral world from a young age. He started to lead the viola section of Elche’s University Symphony Orchestra at age 13 and then went on to play in orchestras around Spain and the UK including Alicante’s Youth Orchestra, National Youth String Orhestra, Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra, RCM’s both Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras and Enselmble Casa Mediterraneo. Moreover, he has had the pleasure of recording for film composers and classical recording labels in famous venues as are the Angel Studios London and Abbey Road Studios.
